Who it's for

Whoever you are, there's a place on the pitch

Juniors finding their first sport. Teenagers and adults who grew up with cricket and missed it. Complete beginners who've only ever seen it on a screen. Parents who'd rather support than play. The Kempen is full of people who'd love this game — we're simply the place to play it.

Juniors (6–16)

Where the club began. Friendly, structured sessions built around fun first.

Adults (17+)

Returning players and total beginners, side by side. No level required.

Why now

A region ready for cricket, with nowhere to play

Across Geel, Mol, Balen, Westerlo, Olen, Kasterlee, Herentals, Laakdal, Meerhout and Tessenderlo, there's never been a proper home for cricket. People who grew up with the game had to let it go. Children curious about it had nowhere to start.

We're changing that — one welcoming club, rooted in Geel, for the whole Kempen.

How we do it

Fun first. Everything else follows.

The best way into any sport is to enjoy it, so that's where we start — a friendly, low-pressure place to pick up a bat and have a go.

For those who catch the bug, there's a real path: proper coaching and a development pathway. But nobody has to be ambitious to belong here.

Never played?

Cricket, explained in plain language

You don't need to understand cricket to start — but if you're curious, we'll teach you. Our plain-language guide covers the whole game in a few minutes, with no jargon left unexplained. Then test yourself with Gully, our four-tier cricket quiz.

Where we are

Built properly, from the ground up

We're honest about being new. Kempen Cricket Club was founded in 2026 as a registered non-profit (VZW). Our founders are completing recognised cricket coaching and club-governance training, and we're in conversation with Cricket Vlaanderen and the Belgian Cricket Federation about affiliation. We'd rather build this right than rush it.

The bigger picture

A good time to start

Cricket returns to the Olympic Games at Los Angeles 2028 in the fast, three-hour T20 format — its first appearance since 1900. A neat footnote: the last time cricket featured at the Olympics, in Paris in 1900, Belgium was one of only four nations to take part.

We're a small community club, here to help you enjoy the game — but it's a wonderful moment to pick up a bat.

Lend a hand

Help us build the game in the Kempen

A young club runs on the people who show up for it. We're especially looking for Dutch-speaking volunteers who'd like to be trained as cricket coaches — no experience required, just commitment. We'll support you toward accreditation as the club grows.
